Check Cashing Day” is the new album from jazz legend Bobby Watson. Bobby Watson is a distinguished Professor in Jazz Studies at the University of Missouri Kansas City Conservatory of Music and Dance. He was the band director for Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers from 1977 to 1981, and has played tenor saxophone for such luminary jazz groups as Horizon, the High Court of Swing, the Tailor-Made Big Band and the 29th Street Saxophone Quartet. He joined Monday Buzz host Brian Standing on Martin Luther King Day to talk about King, his unfinished business and the connection between jazz and civil rights.
