Dane County’s Spanish-speaking population has more than tripled since 1990. The U.S. Bureau of the Census estimates that, as of 2015, there were almost 29,000 Hispanics living in Dane County, which at 6% of the population, makes Spanish-speakers the largest single minority group in the county.
The Latino Chamber of Commerce of Dane County seeks to transfer that growing population into growing economic clout as well. Mayra Medrano, President of the Latino Chamber of Commerce joined Monday 8 O’Clock Buzz host Brian Standing to speak about the growing economic power of Latinx people, entrepreneurs, communities, and businesses in Dane County.
