The sale begins on Thursday, March 6, with a member-only sale from noon until 5 p.m. (memberships are available at the door for $5). The sale continues Friday and Saturday, March 7 and 8, from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m., then again on Sunday, March 9, from 1-5 p.m. Beginning at 3 p.m. that day is a bag sale, during which books will be sold for $5 per bag.
The Sale will take place on the first floor of the Central library, 201 West Mifflin St., in the three glass study rooms near the Fairchild Street entrance and in the Friends Book Store. There will be a good selection of fiction and non-fiction for children and adults, and shoppers can also peruse a selection of history and art books. Most items will be priced at $2 or less, but there will be some specially priced items.
The Friends of the Madison Public Library is an organization constituted to promote and improve library services, materials and facilities for the Madison community; to stimulate gifts and bequests to the library; to provide volunteer support for the library’s programs; to raise funds for immediate and long-range projects; and to encourage the broadest possible use of its facilities, materials and services.
The Friends of the Madison Public Library have made a pledge of $100,000 to the Library Foundation toward the building and furnishing of the new downtown library and will be focusing attention on that goal for the next two years.
