This year, this weekend actually, marks the 46th anniversary of The Christmas Lecture: Once Upon a Christmas Cheery, in the Lab of Shakhashiri. But before that, PNM was proud to have the brainchild and lead chemistry experimenter, Bassam Shakhashiri, as our guest. The inspiration of his lecture, according to Bassam, dates back to the early 1800’s when UK scientist Michael Faraday performed demonstrations for the public. But Bassam brought in a couple of his own experiments to do in our RADIO studios, and to give our PNM host, Dennis Shaffer, a challenge in “play-by-play” announcing.
Head to his website called Science is Fun for more information. Here you can find experiments you can do at home, and a video of this year’s Christmas Lecture made by Wisconsin Public Television.
