What challenges are researchers facing with communicating the seriousness of climate change? Why is there so much debate against the scientific evidence? Today Esty Dinur talks with climatologist Michael E. Mann and journalist John H. Richardson about this climate change deniers.
Dr. Michael E. Mann is Distinguished Professor of Meteorology at Penn State University, with joint appointments in the Department of Geosciences and the Earth and Environmental Systems Institute, and is the director of the Penn State Earth System Science Center. He is also the author of more than 180 peer reviewed and edited publications, and has published two books including Dire Predictions: Understanding Global Warming and The Hockey Stick and the Climate Wars: Dispatches from the Front Lines. He is also a co-founder of the award-winning science website RealClimate.org.
John H. Richardson is a writer and journalist for Esquire Magazine, who has worked with The Albuquerque Tribune, The Los Angeles Daily News, Premiere Magazine, New York Magazine, Esquire Magazine. He has taught at the Columbia University, the University of New Mexico, and Purchase College.
Richardson recently published an article in Esquire looking at climatologist’s research and the backlash they have received from climate change deniers.
