Her Turn, airing Sunday 11-11:30am
News and features by and about women from a feminist perspective. Volunteers receive training to rotate through all roles: news writing and reporting, digital editing, on-air hosting, producing and sound board operating. A commitment of one year is required.

Third World View, airing Sunday 5-6pm
The longest running news show on WORT, Third World View covers issues relating to the developing world from a left, critical, anti-imperialist perspective. Third World View newscasts include a half-hour round-up of the week’s international news, followed by a 20-30 minute feature, often a speech or in-depth interview. Production takes place on the weekend. Volunteers are needed for news reading and writing for at least one Sunday per month, 3-6pm. Additional time is needed for writing.
In Our Backyard, airing Monday thru Thursday 6:30-7pm
Volunteers are needed for news writing, reporting & digital editing 3-7pm/once a week.
Insurgent Radio Kiosk, airing weekdays, 5am, 6:30am, 9am & 2pm
A pre-recorded 5 minute segment which includes a two-minute commentary, the day-in-history, and a calendar of free and low-cost community events.
Kiosk Readers are needed (by appointment) to record on Mondays from 5:15-5:45pm. Alternate week availability is preferred.
A Production Engineer is needed Mondays after 7pm—two hours, twice a month to edit and piece together the Insurgent Radio Kiosk segments.
En Nuestro Patio, airing Tuesday 7-8pm
Locally produced Spanish language news
Collective members, especially women are needed for news writing, reporting, digital editing, producing, and engineering. Training provided.
Queery, airing Wednesday 7-7:30pm
South central Wisconsin’s longest running Lesbian/Gay/Bi-sexual/Transgender radio show. Volunteers are needed for news writing and reporting, on-air hosting, sound board engineering and producing. Training provided.
Perpetual Notion Machine, airing 1st, 3rd & 5th Thursdays 7-7:30pm
Locally produced science show
Collective members are needed for on-air hosting and to engineer, interview guests, compile science news and produce features.
Health Writers, airing 2nd & 4th Thursdays 7-7:30pm
Exploring the social, political and economic aspects of health care
Collective members are needed to produce features and host call-in shows. Weekly meetings—Thursday, Noon-2pm at the station.
Labor Radio, airing Friday 5:30-6pm
News by, for, and about working people
Labor Radio’s mission includes strengthening local unions, increasing the breadth and depth of media coverage on labor issues, and providing for the information needs of the community. Collective members are needed for news writing and reporting, engineering, on-air hosting and producing. Production meetings, Tuesday 7am at Lazy Jane’s, 1358 Williamson St.
Sound Board Engineer
A one year commitment is required! If an opening is available, it would be for the same day & time each week. [Standard sound board shifts are each weekdays from 8-9am; 12-2pm; 5-7pm and 7-8pm] To train as a substitute engineer you must be available for the same shift for 3-4 consecutive weeks.
