On this Independence Day edition of A Public Affair, Patty Peltekos talks with Dawn Anahid MacKeen about her new book, “The Hundred-Year Walk: An Armenian Odyssey.”
MacKeen’s book is a thoroughly researched, yet very personal history of the Armenian genocide. In “The Hundred-Year Walk,” MacKeen writes of two journeys over the same terrain: she retells the story of her grandfather’s forced passage through the Anatolian desert during World War I, a route Dawn retraced in 2007. Through her own research and the eyewitness accounts from Stephan Miskjian, MacKeen tells the story of what happened to her grandfather and to the Armenians of the Ottoman Empire.
