Pledge Drive Phone Answerers

WORT’s three annual on-air pledge drives account for nearly 2/3 of the station’s operating budget. Pledge Phone answerers take calls from listeners, hand write information and comments on the pledge cards and assist with the selection of thank you gifts. Good phone and communication skills and legible printing are essential. Sign up for shifts directly via WORT’s home page:

Outreach Tabling

WORT keeps engaged with the community by having a presence at many neighborhood festivals and community events. Volunteer shifts are typically 2 hours in length. Volunteers act as station ambassadors as they distribute program schedules, bumper stickers and other promotional materials. At some events we offer CDs, t-shirts and other items for sale. People with good listening and conversation skills who are familiar with the station and it’s programming are encouraged to inquire about upcoming opportunities for volunteering in this capacity.

Assisting with Events

WORT utilizes volunteers for various fundraising events throughout the year. Annual events include: the station’s birthday party in early December, an on-air auction, our block party in May (the Sunday before the Memorial Day weekend), and the Underground Music Stage at the Willy St. Fair in September.
