August 25, 2013 10:00 am

For the past eighteen years, individuals who want to take steps toward a healthier future and find a cure for diabetes have participated in Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes. Step Out is a 5K (3.1 mile) walk that attracts all ages and abilities, but includes a high participation rate among those with diabetes. Step Out is the American Diabetes Association’s annual signature fundraising walk.

The South Central Wisconsin Step Out starts and finishes at Olin Park. Enjoy the walk along beautiful Lake Monona and enjoy beautiful sights of the Capitol skyline. The Walk features many great photo opportunities with the Capitol in the background as well as great eateries and artisans.

- Red Strider program: This program honors individuals with diabetes and reminds all participants of the reason for the event. Red Striders receive a commemorative red cap and special recognition area on site.

- Team participation: Whether a company, organization or friends & family team, Step Out is an opportunity for people to come together to show support, participate in a healthy activity and walk as a team to Stop Diabetes!
