This will be an affordable, family-friendly event to support Deerfield Grocery Co-op. It includes a short, 6.4-mile ride between Deerfield and London and a longer, 18-mile bike ride between Deerfield and Lake Mills. The bike ride registration fee is $10 for kids age 12 and under and $20 for adults ($25 after Sept. 15). Optional t-shirts are $10. There will also be free kids games; free live music; pictures with Ruby the Radish; and a home cooked meal of sloppy joe, vegan sloppy joe, hot dogs, baked beans, vegan baked beans, potato salad, coleslaw, dessert and beverages. Presented by Loeb-Lorman Metals and the Fort Atkinson Arts Council, “Arts and Sparks in the Park” combines a unique live action Welding Rodeo and a Fine Arts and Crafts Fair. At the Loeb-Lorman Welding Rodeo, watch teams of welders and artists put their skills to the test in this competition to transform metal scrap into public sculpture. Participants dive into scrap piles at 8:00 am and emerge with a finished sculpture at 4:30 pm. There is a Silent Auction at 5:30 pm where you, the spectator, may bid on the finished welded sculptures. Along with the Welding Rodeo browse the creations of quality artists and craftsmen at our Fine Arts and Crafts Fair.
1:30 Music performance by the 1st Brigade Band – period brass band music from the 1860′s, bring chairs and blankets for grass seating.
Food and beverage will complement the day’s activities.

Walk the Walk is a tour of social justice organizations which allows students, faculty, and staff the opportunity to learn about social and environmental justice nonprofits right here in Madison. Participants can then choose their themed route and visit organizations of their choice – including WORT! Tours leave at 1, 2 and 3pm from Chadbourne Residential College.

For the past eighteen years, individuals who want to take steps toward a healthier future and find a cure for diabetes have participated in Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes. Step Out is a 5K (3.1 mile) walk that attracts all ages and abilities, but includes a high participation rate among those with diabetes. Step Out is the American Diabetes Association’s annual signature fundraising walk.
The South Central Wisconsin Step Out starts and finishes at Olin Park. Enjoy the walk along beautiful Lake Monona and enjoy beautiful sights of the Capitol skyline. The Walk features many great photo opportunities with the Capitol in the background as well as great eateries and artisans.
- Red Strider program: This program honors individuals with diabetes and reminds all participants of the reason for the event. Red Striders receive a commemorative red cap and special recognition area on site.
- Team participation: Whether a company, organization or friends & family team, Step Out is an opportunity for people to come together to show support, participate in a healthy activity and walk as a team to Stop Diabetes!

Host by the Walmart Optical center, the event will be held at 7202 Watts Road, Madison WI 53719. You must register in person at the Walmart Optical Center located at 7202 Watts Road, between now and August 24th. You may register on the day of the event.

Alley Stage hosts its first all-day Folk Music Festival, Sunday, August 4th. 7 Acts take to Alley Stage starting at 11:00 in the morning in this family-friendly event. The gates open at 10:30 in the morning and the first performer takes the stage at 11:00. Throughout the day musicians will be encouraged to gather on the Shake Rag Alley green to jam with one another, folk dancers from Folklore Village will be present to entertain on the green, and families will have the opportunity to craft their own instruments to take home.
