MADISON (WORT) — Wisconsin progressives were dealt a painful blow when Russ Feingold was unseated by business executive Ron Johnson in the 2010 U.S. Senate race. It turned out to be just the first of several crushing defeats for progressives.
Led by Governor Scott Walker, republicans took full control of the Capitol in 2010 and swiftly implemented a laundry list of conservative policies that have dramatically reshaped Wisconsin government from the top-down. On the national level, Johnson has embraced a similar approach to governance, battling the Obama administration with the same uncompromising conviction.
As Russ Feingold tells WORT’s Dylan Brogan in this exclusive interview, Wisconsin is ready for a new approach, even if it’s from a familiar face.
