What effect will Walker’s signing of the Senate Bills 35 and 70 have on gun violence? The bills removed the 48-hour “cooling off” period and now allows off-duty and retired law enforcement officers to carry guns on school grounds. Today host Yuri Rashkin was joined by Morgan Young from End Domestic Abuse to discuss the recent development.
Proponents of the bills say it will help law-abiding citizens obtain firearms to protect themselves, while making it harder for criminals to access them, as electronic background checks can be completed within hours. Those opposed believe it will only enable more violence.
