(WORT) — The annual State of the Tribes address was held Tuesday in the Wisconsin Assembly Chambers. Chairman of the Lac Courte Oreilles Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Mic Isham was selected by the tribal nations of Wisconsin to this give this year’s speech before lawmakers.
Chairman Isham issued a stern critique of Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker’s stewardship of natural resources and the environment. The Ojibwe leader also addressed persistent stereotypes and discrimination felt by tribal members in Wisconsin. Cameron Bren reports.
