James Kilgore was a fugitive in South Africa before being extradited to the United States, where he served six and a half years in prison for what he calls “political offenses.” He now resides in Urbana, Illinois, where he writes on issues of incarceration and social justice. He joins 8 O’Clock Buzz host Brian Standing to talk about his latest article for Truthout entitled “Racism and Mass Incarceration in the U.S. Heartland, Historical Roots of the New Jim Crow.”
