On Thursday around 3 PM Strictly Jazz Sounds host Stephen Braunginn interviews saxophonist and composer Joshua Redman. They’ll be discussing Joshua’s collaboration with The Bad Plus in anticipation of their show at Shannon Hall in the UW Memorial Union on Saturday, October 17. Redman is son of legendary saxophonist Dewey Redman and began playing saxophone at the age of 10. He found early success, winning the prestigious Thelonious Monk International Saxophone Competition and earning a Grammy nomination for his first album. The new album The Bad Plus Joshua Redman was recorded after the group’s weeklong stint at New York’s Blue Note jazz club in 2012 and has been hailed by critics as a landmark recording.
Tickets for the show on Saturday are available at the Memorial Union Theater
