The University of Wisconsin – Madison, is a science juggernaut that brings more than $1 billion in federal grants to Madison, making UW the third largest university in the country in volume of research. With 17 research centers, 120 doctoral fields, and nearly 10,000 grad students, UW produces research and results in so many fields, that it’s impact and importance can easily be lost in the current political atmosphere. With Republican governor/slash/presidential candidate, and a Republican Assembly, we are seeing public policy that is flatly anti-science.
We discuss some of the latest research, and the impact of the political threats, with Kelly Tyrrell, a Science Writer with UW’s department of research communications.
