It’s today’s Action Calendar!
Does your family need help with basic needs such as shelter, housing, clothing, food, transportation or employment? Meet with an Outreach Worker from Joining Forces for Families today at the Goodman South Library, 2222 South Park Street. Drop in between 1 and 3 p.m. and ask to speak to the Outreach Worker for free, confidential assistance. Or, call 608-261-9764 to make an appointment.
It’s Kids in the Kitchen on Wednesday, August 17th, from 3 to 4 p.m. Explore bento boxes with Kids Chef Lily Kilroy at the Alicia Ashman Library, 733 North High Point Road. This cooking class, for kids 6 to 11 years, gets them excited about unfamiliar foods, all while having a hands-on fun time! Bento boxes are neat, compartmentalized lunch boxes from Japan. In this class, participants will prepare sesame noodle salad, quick pickled vegetables and strawberry sticky rice spring rolls. Dishes will be vegetarian and nut free. Call 608-824-1780 today to register.
W-O-R-T has three volunteer receptionist openings. The open slots include alternate Mondays from 2 to 4 p.m., every Tuesday from noon to 4 p.m and every Wednesday from noon to 2 p.m. We’re also recruiting fill-in receptionists for weekday hours between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. A welcoming spirit, plus good phone and message taking skills are essential.
