Mike Frautschy, a volunteer with WORT for over two years, died November 21st, while visiting family in North Carolina. He played a vital part in the WORT community. He was our Monday morning receptionist as well as pitching in wherever we needed help.
He was also a friendly face to everyone who called or stopped by WORT. He was thoughtful and passionate about animal welfare, wildlife, gardening and community radio.
Mike delivered keen observations about the station with the simplest of questions, asked with a smile and a wink. He was always ready with a helping hand and thoughtful conversation.
We are diminished by this loss, but grateful for the opportunity to know and work with Mike.
WORT receptionists have suggested a memorial in Mike’s honor: Mikes for Mike. If you would like to donate to WORT in Mike’s memory, all donations made will go to purchasing new microphones for the station. To donate, simply stop by the station or send in a check with the memo line marked “Mikes for Mike”. Thank you.
