Today in 1961: The Voice of Nuclear Disarmament, a pirate radio station, begins operation offshore of Great Britain. It is run by John Hasted, a physicist, musician, and radio expert in World War II.
Hasted was active with mathematician and philosopher Bertrand Russell in the Committee for Nuclear Disarmament, a group that practiced nonviolent civil disobedience.
It’s today’s Action Calendar!
