More Arrests at Capitol Thursday

Thursday, 25 July 2013 |

Capitol Police arrested and ticketed singers at the State Capitol again today.

After yesterday’s arrests of nearly two dozen singers, hundreds more appeared at the Capitol today at noon. The rotunda and upper floors were packed with singers, onlookers, legal observers, media, police, legislators and Capitol staffers. Police issued 26 citations for unlawful assembly without a permit and sent three people to the Dane County Jail on charges of disorderly conduct and/or resisting arrest. Some singers were ticketed, released, and then returned to the rotunda floor only to be ticketed again.

Paul Sopko Jr. was one of the singers arrested. He says he was there as an individual and not part of a group. He’s pictured here with his citation and a scrap of paper with the first article of the Wisconsin Constitution on it.
