Access Hour

Each Monday a different community group or individual hosts the show. Assistance is provided with recording a promotional announcement to be aired the week prior to the show and with sound board engineering the night of the show. In order to keep the show accessible, any individual or group is limited to one show per year. The Access Hour is often booked several months in advance. To sign up to host an Access Hour show, call Ken Rineer at 256-2001 on Monday evenings or e-mail accesshour@wort-fm.org.

Tuesday, June10 — thank yous

06/11/13 9:29 AM | Access Hour

This is just a quick entry to thank all the good people who pledged financial support to WORT during the last two editions of the Access Hour!   And I want to thank Lynn and her four associates who came on the air in a pinch last evening to do a program relating to the interests of the originally scheduled program host/performer who took sick just before her program was to go on. They were wonderful to produce a quick program and to be prepared to be interrupted by Paul’s and my “pledge rapping” to ask for money.

Monday, June 10 — Pledge Drive Wk 2 — Mourning Dove and Folk You

06/4/13 9:48 AM | Access Hour

Pledge Drive Wk 2 – Mourning Dove presents a program featuring her music and an interview style/live music hour. She’s active in the vegan movement. You can hear some of her songs at http://www.youtube.com/mourningdovesongs. The program will include moderator Marina and Mourning Dove on vocals and acoustic guitar and her uke player. They call themselves ”Folk You.”   “Eating animals cannot be reduced to simply a matter of personal ethics any more than can the refusal to allow people of color to enter one’s privately owned establishment. We must recognize the systemic nature of eating animals. We must appreciate that, just as feminists who challenge patriarchy, for instance, are not simply ‘imposing their personal views’ on society, those who challenge carnism are not simply ‘imposing their personal choices’ on others.” Melanie Joy, PhD http://www.onegreenplanet.org/lifestyle/carnism-why-eating-animals-is-a-social-justice-issue/ www.simplyvegan.net
