After the second-warmest December on record, Wisconsin experienced its first real taste of winter to usher in 2016. We just cleared the solstice, the ground is frozen (even if the lakes aren’t yet), but even so, Nature’s clock is ticking and preparations for spring are already underway. On Sunday, January 3rd, University of Wisconsin Arboretum Naturalist Kathy Miner — yes, that’s WORT engineer Jon Miner’s mom — took a group on a walk through the snow to look for signs of spring.
The Arboretum sponsors free drop-in walks with a naturalist every Sunday at 1 p.m. For more information, go to arboretum.wisc.edu.
