Racial Disparities in Dane County

Wednesday, 25 September 2013 | A Public Affair

Racial disparities have been plaguing Dane County for quite sometime. To talk about it, our host Karma Chavez talked with Erica Nelson, an attorney who practices public interest law and policy and Colleen Butler, YWCA’s Racial Justice & Outreach Director, on Wednesday September 25th.

Nelson and Butler told us about what brought them to Madison and they chose to get involved in trying to close the racial disparity gap especially in the workplace and schools. Chavez and her guests also discussed the importance of equality vs. equity and how the issue of class is important, but that race is equally as important of an issue in our community.
