We’re going to let you in on a secret- some WORT hosts aren’t comfortable during pledge drives. Our volunteers have no trouble playing great music, interviewing guests, reporting on the latest news, or talking to listeners. But asking for money is hard. Think of all the things you would rather do than ask a friend for money.
A few times a year we ask you to join us, the 300 weekly WORT volunteers and seven full-time staff, in making great community radio for south-central Wisconsin possible.
If you share our vision of a volunteer- driven station that doesn’t play the same 40 songs over and over, that doesn’t worry about alienating advertisers, that isn’t afraid to investigate local and state government, then join us with your financial support so that we can continue our work. Giving community members the opportunity to share their voices is our passion and our mission. We’ve included a donation envelope with this newsletter if you would rather give now and relax during the pledge drive.
Our summer pledge drive starts June 1. We continue our 40th birthday celebration by bringing back the most requested, most coveted, most desired of all the WORT t-shirts-the Banana Shirt!
It’s navy, USA union-made, all cotton, printed by Wildwood Productions, and super-spiffy. We’re offering it at the $100 pledge level, but have a limited supply and know it will be popular so we are offering it as a web-donation premium only. The website tracks inventory so we can’t overpromise and let anyone down.
The t-shirt and other premiums will be available at wortfm.org/donate at least a day before the pledge drive and for as long as supplies last.
If you want the t-shirt but are unable to donate online, please contact Susan Sheldon (pledge@wortfm.org or 608- 321-9579) during the pledge drive for alternate arrangements. Thank you!
