Join in with the rock & roll ruckus on Friday May 30 when long time Madison music supporter and author Susan Masino joins D.J. el Serpentine on “The Rattlesnake Shake”, part of the “Friday On My Mind” series, airing 8:00 – 11:00 pm. Susan’s history with Madison’s music community goes back to the 1970s when she was a journalist for The Emerald City Chronicle, and many of her adventures from those days are detailed in her first novel “Rock ‘N’ Roll Fantasy”. During those days, Susan befriended many established bands, when they were still up-and-comers, including Cheap Trick and AC/DC. We’ll also be discussing some of the notable Madison nightclubs from the 70s, such as the Stone Hearth and Shuffle Inn.
Susan Masino was also publisher of the local music ‘zine Rock Central, hosted WJJO’s Local Stage program, and released many local rock CD compilations in the “Rockin’ The Midwest” series. Her more recent publications include “Famous Wisconsin Musicians”, “Let There Be Rock: The Story Of AC/DC”, and “Family Tradition: Three Generations Of Hank Williams”. We’ll be spending ample time discussing her new book “The Secrets of The Universe: Universal Laws, Past Lives, Ghost Adventures, And More”, so needless to say, there will be no lack of interesting topics to broach, and lots of great music to hear!
Masino also teaches a 6-week continuing education class, The History of Rock and Roll, and a 3-week continuing education class on Rock ‘n’ Roll Journalism at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Please join us the evening of Friday, May 30th, for what promises to be an insightful, intriguing, educating, and ROCKING evening!
