Sunday January 6, 12:30 pm at the Chazen Museum of Art-Brittingham Gallery III 750 University Ave. Madison. Sunday Afternoon Live features guitarist Nathan Wysock. Nathan Wysock (who teaches at Lawrence University and Edgewood College) received the Doctor of Musical Arts (with a major in guitar performance and a minor in early music) and Master of Music degrees from the Eastman School of Music. He earned the Bachelor of Music degree from Illinois State University. Mr. Wysock is an avid performer of both solo and ensemble repertoire and has performed in competitions in the United States and abroad. He has been a featured performer on Wisconsin Public Radio and is a member of L’ensemble Portique, a group dedicated to both early and modern music. He recently premiered Wrecked Angels by Geoffrey Gordon, a work for flute, cello and guitar. His scholarly work includes lecture recitals on tango composer Astor Piazzolla and 19th-century guitarist Victor Magnien. Mr. Wysock is a dedicated teacher who has been on the faculty of several community programs, the secondary guitar program at the Eastman School of Music, and the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music. Sunday January 6, 3 pm at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church-Raymond Rd. 5701 Raymond Rd. , Madison Epiphany Concert. Featured will be the Camerata String Quartet; Field Stark, Soprano; Matthew Sundell, Trumpet; and Mark Bloedow, Organist. A varied program of seasonal music is planned including audience Carol singing. A freewill offering is appreciated. Monday January 7, 7 pm at Luther Memorial Church, 1021 University Ave. , Madison. Organ recital by Wyatt Smith. The program will feature music of Johann Sebastian Bach, Charles Ore and Louis Vierne. A free-will offering will be collected. Wyatt Smith, organist, is an undergraduate student at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, where he is pursuing an undergraduate degree in organ performance as a student of Dr. Larry Schou. more »
