The city of Madison is currently working on a pair of ambitious projects to offer high-speed internet access to its residents. One is a pilot project that would establish fiber connections in four low-income neighborhoods, while the other is a study that investigates the potential for a municipal broadband system.
(WORT) — UPDATE, January 8: Dane County Clerk Scott McDonell confirmed Friday afternoon that Rob Dz will be on the ballot in the District One Dane County Board race. Dz was able to correct two signatures previously ruled invalid. Upon further review, McDonell also deemed a third signature compliant bringing the total up to 51, one more than Dz needed to be an official candidate.

Mayor Paul Soglin is a supporter of creating a public internet utility that would provide equal access to broadband for all residents and says this feasibility study is the first step to making the plan a reality.
