Highlights from President Obama’s Visit

Friday, 5 October 2012 | Molly Stentz

President Obama visited Madison on Thursday, October 4th, the day after the first national Presidential debate. An estimated 30,000 people turned up to attend the rally, held at Bascom Hill on the UW Madison campus. The stage was set near the Park street end of the mall, with attendees packed in along the entire length of the grassy field. Many students waited in line beginning at 7 am to get the chance to glimpse the President. Obama took the stage around 3:40pm, speaking for approximately 20 minutes. A small fenced-in VIP area immediately below the stage held local politicos, campaign volunteers, and many union supporters, some proudly displaying green AFSCME t-shirts.   WORT sent a camera crew to capture highlights of the day.
