The Equity and Empowerment Lens

Monday, 23 September 2013 | A Public Affair

On the Monday September 23rd, our host John Quinlan was joined by Sonali Sangeeta Balajee. Balajee is the MS, Senior Policy Advisor in Multnomah County’s (Portland, OR) Office of Equity and Diversity, and creator of an innovative program called the Equity and Empowerment Lens.

Quinlan and Balajee discussed how this program may provide a framework for similar work here in Madison. Balajee is also coming to Madison, which is also her birthplace, for the YWCA Racial Justice Summit. She will share an overview of Multnomah County’s work and progress towards policies and systems that support fair and just opportunities for all residents, and will also facilitate a discussion about how to apply some of the same concepts and tools in Madison.
