Since 1989, Madison’s Rainbow Bookstore has operated as a worker-owned cooperative supplier of a variety of published materials from alternative presses. Since Rainbow’s birth twenty seven years ago, the rise of digital media has dramatically changed the economic landscape for booksellers, especially independents. To survive, Rainbow has had to reimagine itself, and more changes are on the way.
