The State Policy Network

Thursday, 21 November 2013 | A Public Affair

On Thursday November 21st, our host Allen Ruff spoke with Lisa Graves , Executive Director of the Center for Media and Democracy. Ruff and Graves discussed the recent CMD expose on the State Policy Network (SPN), “a web of so-called ‘think tanks’ that push a right-wing agenda in every state across the country.”

Although many of SPN’s member organizations claim to be nonpartisan and independent, an in-depth investigation by the non-profit, non-partisan CMD and Progress Now has revealed that SPN and its affiliates are major drivers of the right-wing, ALEC-backed agenda in state houses nationwide. With deep ties to the Koch brothers and a broader national right-wing network of funders, all while the SPN reports little or no lobbying activities.
