The UW-Rock County Orchestra presents the word premier of a new symphony by UW-Rock County associate professor Jeff Suarez.

Jeff Suarez is Associate Professor of Music at the University of Wisconsin – Rock County in Janesville, Wisconsin, where he directs the UW-Rock County Concert Band, the UW-Rock County Jazz Band, founded the UW-Rock County Chamber Orchestra, and co-founded the UW-Rock County Youth Orchestra. In addition to his directing duties, Professor Suarez also teaches music theory and music history classes. Trained as an educator, French hornist, and composer, Jeff earned a B. M. E. and B. Mus. (Composition / Theory) from Central Michigan University, a M. M. in French horn performance from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, and the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in French horn performance with a minor in musicology from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. As a conductor of musical theater, Jeff has been recently seen with Spotlight on Kids, Theater Unlimited, and musical theater productions at UW-Rock County. Jeff was inducted into the United Arts Alliance Hall of Fame at the Janesville Performing Arts Center on April 7, 2013. This year, Suarez is coordinating the annual “Walk-in Messiah” with the Janesville School District, ECHO, and Cargill United Methodist Church where Richard Severing will conduct this annual event. From the compositional and music arrangement realm, Suarez has recently composed two works for orchestra, a work for French horn quartet, and has constructed numerous arrangements for the UW-Rock County Concert Band, the UW-Rock County Youth Orchestra, and the UW-Rock County Jazz Combo in which he plays “2nd keyboard”.

The Janesville Performing Arts Center serves the greater Rock County area through performances and events produced by 15 local non-profit arts groups.
