The Madison Choral Project.
The program, “A Celestial Spring,” will celebrate the season of springtime. The first set of music seeks to depict the return of color to nature in the lush warm harmonies of three great German Romantic composers, Rheinberger, Brahms, and Mendelssohn. The second set focuses on nature itself, beginning with I Am the Great Sun by Jussi Chydenius, followed by two movements of F. Melius Christiansen’s Celestial Spring, and ending with The Sun has Gone Down by Leland B. Sateren. The third set, which we are calling “The Call of Summer,” features three of the Songs of Farwell of Charles Hubert Parry, contemplating the end of life and transition into heaven. The fourth and final set tracks the various stages of romantic love, from attraction and flirtation through courtship, love, and a final goodbye.
Madison’s new choral ensemble, the Madison Choral Project, is a fully professional 16-voice ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Albert Pinsonneault.
MCP is the first and only professional vocal ensemble of our kind in the Madison area.
Empowered with the knowledge that great music elevates the human spirit, our mission is to enrich our audiences through illuminating performances of choral music at the highest level, seeking and expressing the composer’s intent, and celebrating the beauty of the human experience.
