Today in 1933: Nazis raid the Institute for Sexual Science in Berlin, which doubles as headquarters of the Scientific Humanitarian Committee, a thirty six year-old gay-rights organization.
The Nazis destroy all archives, including priceless books, scientific data, photographs and manuscripts. The organization will cease to exist. Nazis intensify the persecution by interning gays in concentration camps and forcing them to wear a pink triangle as identification.

The Friends of the Baraboo Public Library host their annual Book and Bake Sale fundraiser tomorrow through Saturday. A members-only sale is Wednesday from 5 to 8pm. New Friends memberships and renewals are available at the door. Public sale hours are Thursday, 9am to 8pm, and Friday and Saturday, 9am to 4pm. You can make an impact on the life of a senior adult by assisting them to remain independent and living in their own home. Volunteers are matched with a senior and help with light housekeeping or other tasks once a week or bi-weekly.
