Professor Dave Vanness, and an assortment of his colleagues, join Morning Buzz host Jonathan Zarov live from the Rally for Tenure, Quality Education and Academic Freedom, at Union South, as the Regents were taking up the issue of revised tenure rules in the UW system.
Dr. Dave Vanness is an Associate Professor of Population Health Sciences (with tenure) at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health and an affiliate of the La Follette School of Public Affairs, the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering, the Center for Demography and Ecology and the UW Carbone Cancer Center at UW-Madison.
He serves the University as President of the UW-Madison chapter of the American Association of University Professors, as a member of the Steering Committee of the Professional Representation Organization of the Faculty Senate (PROFS) and as a temporary appointee to the Committee on Faculty Rights and Responsibilities.
But you might know him best from his starring role in a photo as the finger-pointing-bearded-professor-in-a-meeting, which has become madison.com’s iconic go-to for portraying faculty vehemently opposing the State of Wisconsin’s dismantling of tenure as we know it.
