Today in 1982: In the world’s largest-ever peace demonstration, (until the U.S. invasion of Iraq), one million rallied in New York City’s Central Park to support the newly formed Nuclear Freeze Campaign which called for a halt to all nuclear weapons testing worldwide.

Tonight is a forum on “Frankenfood: Monsanto GMOs versus Sustainable Family Farms.” Speakers: Dela Ends, owner and operator of an organic CSA farm, and Warren Porter, professor of zoology research at UW Madison. This starts at 6pm tonight with a cheese and cracker reception, with the speakers at 6:30. This is at Basics Food Cooperative, 1711 Lodge Drive in Janesville.
