Guest host Bert Zipperer talks with a panel on the Workers’ Rights Center of Madison, the ongoing work to assure workers’ rights, and their upcoming fundraiser. Guests include Rabbi Renee Bauer, Executive Director of the Interfaith Coalition for Worker Justice (ICWJ); Jim Cavanaugh, former President of the South Central Federation of Labor and a member of WRC Board of Directors; Patrick Hickey, Director of the Workers’ Rights Center of Madison; and Carlos Miranda, Lead Worker Advocate of WRC.
The WRC seeks to issue a detailed and widely distributed analysis that gives voice to low-income Latino immigrant workers living and working in Dane County. WRC identifies chief concerns regarding employment standards and offers specific proposals. In addition, they produce the annual Madison Restaurant Guide, titled the “Just Dining Guide” to help people learn which restaurants offer their workers the fairest compensation and working conditions.
The WRC Birthday Bash Benefit Concert will take place Wednesday, July 27, from 5:30-9:30 p.m. at Harmony Bar. For more information check out their website or call 608-255-0376.
