“A good sherris-sack hath a two-fold operation in it. It ascends me into the brain; dries me there the foolish and dull and crudy vapours which environ it; apprehensive, quick, forgetive, full of nimble, fiery, and delectable shapes; which delivered o’er to the voice, the which is the birth, becomes excellent wit.” So said Shakespeare’s character Falstaff in the play Henry IV Part II, describing the effect of his favorite drink.
That “excellent wit” will be on display tonight at the High Noon Saloon, as the Madison Shakespeare Company presents an encore performance of their Sloshed Shakespeare, featuring an abridged…and inebriated…rendition of Macbeth. Joining Eight O’Clock Buzz host Brian Standing in the studio… possibly sober… are MSC actors Sarah Johnson, who plays Lady Macbeth, and Joshua Woolcom, who plays Malcolm. Both actors also play two of the witches.
