A UW-Madison study released this week found that nearly 17,000 potential voters were deterred from casting a ballot in the 2016 election because of Wisconsin’s voter ID law, and that the law disproportionately prevented African-Americans and low-income people from voting. The study, which cost Dane County $55,000 to complete, prompted Republican State Treasurer Matt Adamczyk to call for a retaliatory cut of the same amount to Dane County’s shared revenue.
Thursday host Tony Castenada talks with Dane County Clerk Scott McDonell and One Wisconsin Now’s Program Director Analiese Eicher about this recent study.
