Friday, January 29th, 2016, from 8:00 to midnight (CST) WORT 89.9 FM and “The Rattlesnake Shake” program are proud and honored to present a 70th birthday party tribute show to one of the greatest guitar players in Rock & Roll history… the unbelievable and irreplaceable TERRY KATH, from the original line-up of the band Chicago, who were just inducted in to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame! Due to popular demand, this is the “3rd ANNUAL” Terry Kath radio tribute, and has been expanded to a 4 hour time slot.
Terry Alan Kath, born in Chicago, IL on Jan 31, 1946, and passed in Woodland Hills, CA, Jan 23, 1978, was a guitarist of unequaled ability, drawing praise from the likes of Jimi Hendrix and Joe Walsh. Additionally, Kath’s compositional skills were integral to the formation of the early Chicago sound, through songs such as “Introduction”, “The Road”, “In The Country”, “Alma Mater”, “Song Of the Evergreens”, “Hope For Love”, “Takin’ It On Uptown”, and “Mississippi Delta City Blues”. Kath’s soulful, smoky, baritone vocals put the stamp on enduring Chicago hits like “Make Me Smile”, “Colour My World”, “I’m A Man”, and “Wishing You Were Here”.
“The Rattlesnake Shake” program brings this special show to you once again with the blessing of Kath’s daughter, Michelle Kath Sinclair, who has been tirelessly involved with the making of a documentary film about her father, “Searching For Terry: The Terry Kath Experience”, which is nearing completion. This radio special will feature nothing but Terry Kath/Chicago music, and will be augmented with interview sections, either live via telephone, or pre-recorded for this program. Interview subjects to be announced… although, it may be more fun to just wait for the surprises on the night of the 29th! Please join me for a very special night of music and magic. If you are outside of our transmission range, WORT can be streamed online in HD at www.wortfm.org
