It’s another “Pop-Up Party” on Wed June 26, 6-8 pm. Chris Powers performs 6:30 to 7:30 pm.
The Atwood (formerly Mr Roberts) is yet another nice, new tavern and music venue on Madison’s East side, owned by the same folks that operate Chief’s Tavern. They’ve created a nicely refurbished, updated space ideal for The 89.9 Social Club Pop-Up Party. They offer 20 craft beers on tap, wine, adventurous cocktails and non-alcohol beverages.
The Atwood has generously extended a $1.00 discount on all drinks to Pop-Up Party attendees. Please identify yourself to your server as a Pop-Up Party attendee to get the discount. The discount will be available 6-8 pm.
The Atwood has a food MENU offering traditional tavern fare including appetizers and sandwiches as well as an array of burgers–salmon, beef and the vegan “Beyond” burger.
At 6:30 pm, turn your eyes and ears towards our live acoustic entertainment. Chris Powers, life-long performer, teacher and bluegrass aficionado–and the host of WORT’s “Mud Acres Bluegrass Special” show, heard Friday mornings–will perform solo on guitar and bouzouki. Chris will perform his original music as well as his unique, tasty interpretations of some choice covers. Have a bite to eat (optional, of course) and visit with fellow WORTees while enjoying Chris Powers’ music.
The Atwood is on the #3, #7 and #37 bus routes with bus stops close by, and on the bike path. Several other bus routes are running within a few blocks.
The 89.9 Social Club strives to create opportunities for WORT volunteers to visit with and bond with folks who share a common experience. The Club’s Pop-Up Party also creates an opportunity for curious listeners and members of the community to meet WORT volunteers and get a better sense of what WORT is all about.
Regardless of whether you are a volunteer, a friend or family member, or just a curious WORT-FM listener, all are welcome to attend. Please, join the Pop-Up Party at The Atwood… and bring a friend!
