For today’s episode, guest host Stu Levitan is joined in the studio by Pulitzer Prize–winning journalist David Maraniss to discuss his latest book, A Good American Family: The Red Scare and My Father. The book traces the history of the House Un-American Activities Committee’s investigation into his father, Elliott Maraniss, in Detroit in 1952 and provokes a conversation about what it really means to be American.
David Maraniss is speaking at a live event hosted by the Wisconsin Book Festival tonight, Tuesday, May 28, at Madison Public Library Central (201 W. Mifflin St.) from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The event is free and open to the public. More information available here.
