S. population owns a gun, but for those who do, they average 9 guns per person, according to Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz in her latest book, “Loaded: A Disarming History of the Second Amendment“. Used historically to control slaves and expel and kill Native American, guns are the talisman of white supremacy, says Dunbar-Ortiz. And guns in the home are more often used in deadly domestic violence than self defense.
