Dave and guest Michael Takach wander through the fascinating and all too often oppressive life of Drag in Milwaukee. From the police enforcement of the Masquerade “laws” in the 1950s and 60s, they also wander into the history of drag starting in 19 century and the lives of Two Spirit Peoples.
They discuss the highs and lows as well as the oppression and violence directed at the Drag/LFBTQ community. On stage they were the stars but once off stage ugliness and bigotry challenged their lives.
Takach and co-author B. J. Daniels wrote to document this bit of Wisconsin history as well as to further inspire LGBTQ folks.
