On Thursday, Oct 3rd Tom Curry, Mark Hetzler and Anthony DiSanza perform their collaborative composition “Don’t Look Down” at the Arts+Literature Laboratory in Madison. A partly composed, partly improvisational work in nine movements for tuba, trombone, percussion, piano, and electronics, “Don’t Look Down” invites listeners to reflect on what it means to pay attention to the world we experience in spite of the distracting influence of technology. On September 17th, the musicians, all professors at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, joined WORT’s Peter Haney in the studio to talk about the work. After the performance in Madison, the trio will take the piece on the road to several other Midwest locations.
