Voting rights have been under attack for the past number of years, under the thinly-veiled guise of “trying to prevent voter fraud” — even admitted by Wisconsin legislators. Just within the past several weeks, though, federal courts have struck down some of these laws, which U.S. District Judge James Peterson states “…suppress the reliably Democratic vote of Milwaukee’s African Americans.” Kristen Hansen of the Wisconsin ACLU discusses these rulings and the effect on voters in upcoming elections in August and November.
