One of the cruel dilemmas of climate change is that its impacts and causes create a vicious circle. The hotter it gets, the more people run air conditioners. The more air conditioners that run, the longer electric power plants must run, generating more and more greenhouse gases. And, of course, the more greenhouse gases are emitted into the atmosphere, the hotter it gets. Scientists have long known that this feedback loop exists, but a recent study from the University of Wisconsin Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies puts a finer cut on the connection between air conditioners and air pollution. Professor Tracey Holloway and PhD Student, David Abel, join Eight O’Clock Buzz host Brian Standing in the studio with more.
