Alice Bag was the front person for L.A. punk band The Bags. She played in numerous projects during the Hollywood punk scene and has continued to make music through the ensuing decades. In the past few years she’s written two memoirs and has released her first two solo albums, off Don Giovanni Records.
She’ll be playing her first show in Madison at the Tip Top Tavern on Wednesday, June 11th. Here she spoke with Punk Kitten host Chali Pittman about the community spirit of the late-seventies L.A. punk scene, how living with domestic violence shaped her upbringing, songwriting as political resistance, and the making of her 2018 album Blueprint.
