Since the beginning of the pandemic, one of the nation’s major lines of defense has been its nurses and medical caregivers. Over the summer, the strain on those healthcare workers seemed to be on the decline as Wisconsin’s positivity rate dropped.
That has all changed in the past two months.
As the state’s COVID-19 positivity rate has rebounded in recent weeks, so too has the strain on the healthcare system.
Earlier today, WORT Producer Jonah Chester spoke with Vanessa Pierce — a local ICU nurse who’s been working on the front lines since the beginning of the pandemic — to discuss how healthcare workers are coping.
