Earlier this year, Chicago-based developer Core Spaces announced that it was eyeballing the corner of Gorham and State Street for a new 10-story apartment building.
The new project is forcing out a number of locally-owned businesses who now have to determine their next steps. One of those businesses is Community Pharmacy — a worker co-operative that’s been a downtown staple for nearly half a century.
Like its neighbor, a Room of One’s Own Bookstore, the pharmacy co-op decided to relocate to the city’s near east side.
For more on their ongoing move, WORT Producer Jonah Chester spoke with Brendan Schwab, a member of the pharmacy’s co-op.
